AN 11/4 winner on Thursday for Graeme Johnston (@GraemeJ_83) and here he looks at two races for us at Newmarket.

The Duchess of Cambridge Stakes is for 2 year old fillies over 6 furlongs and it looks a typically good renewal. There is a mixture of Ascot form and maiden winners lining up and is likely to throw up plenty of winners.

Bletchley was a 25/1 winner on debut but showed this wasn't a fluke by going down a short head in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot. She has the best form in the book and this Ralph Beckett inmate is bound to run well here.

Nasimi was a very impressive winner on debut at Haydock and I'm looking forward to seeing what she does here. Her stable is flying and despite this being a huge step up in class I think she's going to go very close here and is an interesting filly for the future.

Roly Poly comes is one of the more exposed runners in the line up here however she is improving and I think she will win this. She won well on debut before running disappointingly on her next two starts however this was down to the soft ground. She is beautifully bred filly and on this quicker ground she is a huge price here and I'm backing her each way.

The Falmouth Stakes is one of the highlights of the fillies and mares calendar having been won by some of the best fillies around down the years and Usherette looks to add her name to the roll of honour today.

Amazing Maria won this race last season however she has looked a shadow of her former self this season so far. She will appreciate today's better ground however she doesn't seem the same this year and though I'm not prayed to write her off entirely she's not for me.

Alice Springs looks the best of the Classic generation lining up but she's relatively exposed and despite having some solid form to her name and the stables typically strong form she'd be a disappointing winner of this. She's ran a couple of good races including thirds in the 1000 Guineas and Coronation Stakes but I think she'll fall short here.

Usherette looks a cut above her rivals here and I think she will win this and win it well. She was impressive at Royal Ascot in a race that wasn't ran entirely to suit and all going well she wins this before either taking on the colts or Tepin later in the season.

Best Bets

15:45 Newmarket – Roly Poly each way (7/1 Coral)

16:15 Newmarket – Usherette to win (4/5 Coral)

I grew up watching Hearts games with my dad and playing football at every opportunity so betting on it was the logical next step! Football coupons became a Saturday ritual and it introduced me into the world of horse racing. I started watching it on a regular basis, and after Galileo's Derby win in 2001 I was hooked. I follow both flat and national hunt racing attending the northern meetings when possible.
