Horse Racing: Newcastle the host for Friday’s NAP

HORSE RACING expert Jake Russell (@JakeRuss1000) shares his his daily NAP with his best Friday bet arriving from Newcastle.

2.50 Newcastle | Friday 15th November 2019

We were unlucky with Thursday’s NAP, who fell three out after looking very much the winner of the race. ‘Third time lucky’, I believe the saying is, so hopefully Friday’s selection can get me off the mark.

Friday’s best bet of day is Simply The Betts in the 2:50 Class 3 Logico Chase at Newcastle (11/10 SkyBet).

A bit of a shorter price but I feel it’s still worthwhile for a horse that ran and won very well last time out at Chepstow. His jumping was the best part in that race – he didn't even touch a stick until the second from last which allowed him to cruise up to the leader and sweep to take the lead at the final fence.

Simply The Betts showed he still had a lot of pace up the running as well after being eased down by Darryl Jacob in the end by just over four lengths. It was a very impressive run all the way around from the Harry Whittington mount.

That race at Chepstow was a Class 3 in soft ground at 2m, exactly the same as Friday, so he should take to this race like a duck to water as everything is going for him.

Gavin Sheehan takes the ride which is another plus for us as he rode this horse to two hurdle victories last season, and was the jockey for all his races leading up to Chepstow last time.

The horse was very well prepared last season for the listed Ascot Hurdle but didn't show his true colours that day after finishing a tailed off eighth out of nine.

He certainly looks like the chasing type based on his debut last time, and I truly believe on Friday he will extend his unbeaten over fences and then aim towards a listed race his connections wanted to win last season.
