HORSE RACING expert Jake Russell (@JakeRuss1000) shares his his daily NAP with his best Thursday bet arriving from Meydan.

4.15 Meydan | Thursday 13th February 2020

Let's return off with a bang, Thursday's NAP comes from Meydan, in the 1m 1f  Group 2 Fillies & Mares contest at 4:15 in the form of Magic Lily (11/8 Coral)

She was a very impressive winner last time out over 1m at Meydan in January, in a similar Group 2 contest, beating Thursday's second favourite by a short head. Magic Lily stayed on and shot to the line on this occasion, just getting up in the last few strides, showing that this step up in trip should suit her better than her rival that day, Nisreen who just couldn't hold on in their last contest.

Magic Lily has a 3lb penalty to contend with, however, with the manner of her last win I cant see that being an issue. In the last race, she was very green early on and she will need to settle down better, but with the first run of the season under her belt, I can see improvement. Even if the Godolphin horse didn't settle down, I really can not see that stopping her. She is a horse on the rise for the fantastic Charlie Appleby, who is in splendid form himself at present.

Probably the biggest bonus for us. and this horse. is the brilliant and in-form Will Buick booked to ride – arguably one of the most talented young flat jockeys around and Godolphin's number one. He is enduring a rich vein of form at Meydan this winter, with a very good strike rate of 50% in 14 days – four winners from eight rides.

This mare is certainly a classy individual, who will take a lot of stopping, even with the penalty. Certainly a horse to keep an eye on for the season ahead.

Best Bets

4:15 Meydan – Magic Lily (11/8 Coral)
