Gerry Taylor’s Weekend Longshots | 19th-20th February 2020

LONGSHOT lover Gerry Taylor (@thefurlongpole) picks out a few big prices to cheer on this weekend.

Man City to score Over 4.5 Goals and Ayr to score Over 2.5 Goals (140/1 Sport Nation)

Man City have hit a 7, 4, 6, 4, 4, 4 & 5 goal hauls amongst their last 12 games. Spurs are the opponents at The Etihad on Sunday, and the way they’ve been conceding lately, it’s not fanciful that the hosts could hit them for five.

Meanwhile, Inverness host Ayr in the Scottish Championship today, and the home side are 0/8 for wins recently, and shipped three goals last time out in the Highlands. In contrast, Ayr were well worthy winners in the recent Ayrshire derby, winning 2-1 at Kilmarnock.

New gaffer Lee Bullen has made an excellent impact, and if The Honest Men were to win here, it would complete the scalps of all of the top four in this division, within the last four weeks. The transformation in midfield and attack, means a three goal haul for the South Ayrshire men, is perhaps worth a speculative punt.

Kyle Lafferty (Kilmarnock), Gavin Reilly (Morton) and Jack Hamilton (Arbroath) all to score first (239/1 Bet365)

Kyle Lafferty helped himself to a brace last weekend in Killie’s win against Dunfermline, so will be looking to get on the scoresheet once again today against a Fife outfit – Raith Rovers.

Morton’s Gavin Reilly is also in decent scoring form lately – with four goals in his last five league starts, the ‘Ton visit Hamilton today, in what should be a decent match.

It’s bottom v top in Dumfries this afternoon, when leaders Arbroath take on manager less Queen of the South. Veteran player Willie Gibson has taken temporary charge. Value wise Jack Hamilton to score first looks the way to go here – the striker is 5 goals in his last five games.

Dundee United vs Rangers: Both Teams Under 0.5 Goals and Both Teams Under 0.5 Cards (295/1 BetVictor)

Bobby Madden is perhaps the closest thing we have to Martin Atkinson, up here. The official when he can, likes to try and keep the cards back as much as possible. The official had two zero card games in his first nine matches this season, and had two zero card games also in the last five months of last season.

This column is about crazy punts, so we are backing a side fresh from scoring four goals in a great win in Dortmund, being shut out here. The hosts actually managed that feat in early season fixture at Tannadice.
