Friday’s Bet Of The Day: Table-toppers too big to ignore

JACK Wright's (@JackWright_BSB) Bet of the Day returns for Friday as we head to League Two.

Barrow vs Forest Green | Friday 15th April 2022, 15:00

There is still work to be done for Forest Green to confirm their promotion to League One – although it has looked almost guaranteed for some time now – which should keep them focused for this trip to relegation haunted Barrow.

A win at Holker Street for Rob Edwards’ side could set up the possibility of a Bank Holiday Monday promotion party at home to Oldham if results elsewhere go their way.

I feel this price is slightly inflated due to the loss for the rest of the season of prolific top scorer Matty Stevens who bagged both goals in the 2-0 reverse fixture, but the vegans should still have enough threat to take care of the Bluebirds who are only out of the drop zone on goal difference.

Although Hartlepool put a brake on FGR’s three game winning sequence with a battling draw at The New Lawn last time out with their only shot on target, the home side were denied all three points only by some smart saves from Ben Killip and the woodwork.

The Cumbrians have lost all 3 games under new boss Phil Brown, who has upped the intensity of his sides training likening it more to a pre-season regime claiming it to be too high if anything but a risk he is prepared to take with in order to improve a record of only one win in their last 12 and that coming against doomed bottom side Scunthorpe.

However, if the Green Devils, who have tasted defeat just once on their travels this season in compiling the best away record in the fourth tier, play to their capabilities, they should have too much for the freefalling Bluebirds.

Having had a passion for football for as long as I can remember – I’m talking Shoot League Ladders here – one of my first “bets” is still my biggest win. After begging my mum to let me fill in her pools coupon so I could show off my knowledge, eight draws later and a cheque for £11,500 was soon in the post. As a Norwich fan it’s important to have a good grasp of what’s going on in the lower leagues and I also like exploring those less popular leagues to have a delve into any stats-based markets that are available. Right now, I’m particularly enjoying player bets. Outside of sport, I love eating and drinking - maybe a little too much - as well as listening to a varied spectrum of music, both from the comfort of my own home and at festivals.
