ABERDEEN'S next assignment in Europe is a trip to Croatia to face Rijeka. Can they get anything from the game Chris Graham (@chrisgraham79)?

Rijeka v Aberdeen | Thursday 20:00 | Premier Sports

After stumbling past Macedonian minnows Shkendija in the previous round, this is a big step up in class for Aberdeen as they travel to Croatia to meet Rijeka. Let's talk about Rijeka…

This side have finished second in the Croatian championships in the last two seasons to Dinamo Zagreb and have performed well in the Europa League over that time period.

In 2013/14 they knocked out legendary German club Stuttgart to reach the group stages. Placed in a group alongside Lyon, Real Betis and Vitoria de Guimaraes they lost only two games yet still finished in fourth place.

Back they came again last season seeing off Ferencvaros, Vikingur and Sheriff to reach the group stages again. It was another brutal pool for the Croats with eventual winners Sevilla inside it along with Feyenoord and Standard Liege. Rijeka failed to qualify but exited with huge credit after wins over Feyenoord and Standard and a draw against Sevilla. Brilliant form.

You'd like to think Aberdeen can improve from last week, failing to beat Shkendija over two legs is nothing to be proud about. They should be more tuned up for this match but it's a concern that Rijeka's league season started at the weekend so they certainly won't be cold.

The Croats are 2/5 to win this match and there doesn't seem much juice in that. Aberdeen knocked out Groningen last season and gave Real Sociedad a fright, I'm hoping the step up in class will focus them.

We may well see another disappointing Scottish performance on Thursday but I'll back Under 2.5 Goals at 6/5 with Coral. Two of Rijeka's three home qualifiers last season went Under and fingers crossed Aberdeen can be thrive in this stiffer test.
