TWO teams struggling at the wrong end of the La Liga table lock horns tonight. But what’s the best bet? We asked Mark O’Haire (@MarkOHaire).

Deportivo La Coruna v Elche | Monday 19.45

Both Deportivo and Elche find themselves scrapping at the bottom of La Liga and tonight’s battle could be crucial if either side is to hold out any hope of survival this season.

The two teams are in the midst of a dreadful run of form, boasting only four victories between them in 28 league outings. For that reason alone, it’s almost impossible to nail your colours to a winner on Monday night.

Hosts Depor are winless since mid-October and have managed just two goals to their name in their last six La Liga matches. Elche fare little better, scoring four goals over the same timeframe.

With Under 2.5 Goals understandably short it could pay to take a goalless first-half at the Estadio Riazor with William Hill offering 6/4 on a 0-0 half-time score.

Deportivo missed a penalty against Malaga on home soil last weekend and rarely threatened to trouble the scoresheet. And you have to go back to October for the last time they notched before the interval whilst also failing to score in the first 45 minutes in five of their seven home matches.

Elche bossed possession against Atletico Madrid but never came close to netting. They’ve failed to score before the break in their last three on the road and notched just three times in the first-half since September.

In what’s expected to be a tight, ugly battle, it could pay to oppose goals at a handsome 6/4 with William Hill.
