Deportivo La Coruna v Eibar Tips | 6th February 2015

LA Liga fanatic Carl Jones (@CJBettingPro) was desperate to share his views on Friday night’s clash between Deportivo and Eibar. Is he on to a good thing?

Deportivo La Coruna v Eibar | Friday 19.45

On Friday night we see Eibar travel to the Estadio Riazor to face Deportivo in the first La Liga clash of the weekend. Depor sit 14th in the table, just three points off relegation, whilst Eibar are comfortable in eighth. But don’t let the table fool you; this is going to be a tough task for Eibar.

Victor Fernandez’s hosts had a hard fought win away to Rayo Vallecano last time out and will be looking to build on last weekend’s success. Just one league defeat in five has seen Depor collect eight points from a possible 15 with Barcelona the only side to get the better of the Blue and Whites.

Eibar arrive on the back of successive defeats and are now winless in three. Overall this season they’ve fared well away from home, suffering just three losses in 10 on the road. But this Friday night meeting will test their mettle.

Visiting midfielder Dani Garcia is set to be return from suspension but admitted their recent performances have slumped and feels it is a wakeup call for the Basque minnows. The only injury concern for Eibar is Manu del Moral and he will be replaced by Mikel Arruabarrena. Arruabarrena will slot straight into the number 10 role.

Eibar boss Gaizka Garitano had to cancel training on Thursday morning due to snow, so this won’t help matters for a side that prides themselves on their organisation abilities.

Meanwhile, Luis Farina is still suspended for Deportivo and Helder Postiga remains on the long-term injury list. Oriol Riera, who continues to replace Postiga, has recently stressed the importance of picking up points at home and from the sounds of it, he will not be taking Eibar lightly.

Both teams are newly-promoted this season with La Coruna topping the Segunda and I feel, in their mind, they will be going into this game with confident and expecting to pick up points. Last time they met was back in September where Depor won 1-0 with an early Juan Dominquez goal. Their previous clash was back in May, ending 1-1.

League positions will hold a bearing on how the two sides go about their business on Friday night. Depor will want to keep pushing away from relegation whilst Eibar will be keen to halt their mini slump but well aware they’re in cushy position. It’s a dangerous game for the Basques who could find themselves in a battle against the drop if they’re not careful.

I am confident in saying that Eibar will finish lower than Deportivo by the end of the season, even if they have been this season’s surprise team and are currently six points ahead of Friday’s hosts.

As you can probably tell, I am backing a Deportivo win and you can get them best price at 6/5 with BetVictor. But another selection to consider is Deportivo to be winning at half-time, with William Hill making it a juicy 21/10 shots.

Studying the stats for this preview, I noticed that in their last two games against Eibar, Deportivo have scored early goals. And in their last four home fixtures the Blue and Whites have been leading at the interval in three; the only game they weren’t came against Barcelona.

With the hosts keen to start on the front foot and chasing an early lead at the Riazor, I reckon I’ve found an excellent priced selection to consider with Deportivo to score a first-half goal available at gorgeous 13/10 with William Hill. I’m all over that!
