ALEX JONES (@AlexJ0nes9) analyses the odds as Crystal Palace host Leicester in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

Crystal Palace will be looking to put Monday night’s misery behind them on Sunday as they welcome an underperforming Leicester City to Selhurst Park.

The Eagles conceded a 95th minute equaliser to rivals Brighton after a mix up in the defence, whereas Leicester lost at Legia Warsaw despite being pre-match favourites there.

There has been a shift in philosophy under the new French gaffer, Patrick Viera, and that has seen an upturn in goals.

And that is where I will head for my main play here and suggest Over 2.5 goals is worth taking at the odds.

We only have a six-game sample size here, but Palace games have averaged exactly 2.5 goals. That is the expectancy for this game, but we are offered an even money price.

16 of the Foxes’ last 21 have gone over 2.5 goals, and their defensive problems are no more so evident than the fact they only have a clean sheet in 3 of those 21 matches.

Leicester were in Poland on Thursday evening and that often sees a weaker performance from the team who was in Europe on the Sunday afternoon.

That said, if Leicester notch three goals here on their own, and the bet wins, would anyone be really surprised?

The centre back partnership of Joachim Andersen and Marc Guehi is yet to convince, and the fire power Leicester have in attack is in abundance.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see both teams score, but I’d rather have the assurance a 3-0 win either way wins the bet. Given both defences cannot be trusted, I like this angle.

One props bet that looks on the large side is Conor Gallagher to register two or more shots, priced at 7/5 with Betfair and Paddy Power.

The Chelsea loanee has excelled at Selhurst Park this season and is a fine young talent. He has averaged 3 shots in his three games at home so far, hitting 2, 6 and 1 shots.

Overall, he has took aim twice or more in 3/5 games so far, as he didn’t play on the opening day at his contracted club Chelsea.

Given that Leicester have conceded 19, 14 and 12 shots on their road trips this season, I am happy to back a player to have two shots, a feat that isn’t too much to ask for a box-to-box midfielder.

Best Bets

Crystal Palace vs Leicester – Over 2.5 Goals (1/1 Bet365)

Crystal Palace vs Leicester – Conor Gallagher 2+ Shots (7/5 Paddy Power)

I suppose the majority of people get into betting through the odd accumulator on a Saturday, which is true, but I started to enjoy betting when more player and team statistics/data became readily available meaning you could use that to your advantage. I have knowledge of the Championship mainly due to supporting Nottingham Forest (outside the Premier League since I was born) but I punt mostly on the Premier League. I'm also into my tennis and cricket, but my main passion is in football.
