CORRECT SCORE king Glen Scurfield @GScurfTrader) returns with three more of his best bets from the weekend’s action.
Rayo Vallecano v Athletic Bilbao | Sunday 17.15 | Sky Sports 3
Athletic Bilbao have struggled away from home this season with only one win from their six La Liga road trips.
Rayo Vallecano have been pretty impressive at Vallecas this season, notching three wins. The hosts have also managed to put two past Barcelona at the Camp Nou only to be beaten almost single-handedly by a breathtaking Neymar performance.
In the aforementioned three Rayo home wins, Paco Jemez’s men have been ahead at half-time. With Athletic losing on all three occasions they’ve trailed at the break this term, the home side could well cause an upset on Sunday.
In 4/6 (67%) of Rayo’s fixtures at Vallecas, at least three goals have been scored with a first-half strike arriving on all bar one occasion. I’ll have a go on Rayo winning 2-1 at 11/1 with BetVictor.
Hoffenheim v Borussia Monchengladbach | Saturday 14.30
Monchengladbach travel to Hoffenheim after a fantastic win against Sevilla in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
Gladbach have been in fantastic form of late, winning seven of their previous eight Bundesliga games. From that eight-game streak, they’ve won all three away games convincingly. With 3-1, 4-1 and 5-1 wins over Stuttgart, Eintracht Frankfurt and Hertha Berlin, the Foals certainly haven’t been short of goals.
In their midweek game against Sevilla, Andre Schubert’s side registered 25 shots with 16 of those on-target. With 12 goals in their previous three away games, Monchengladbach’s shot-to-goal ratio is at 3.83. A goal every four shots!
Hoffenheim have yet to win at home this season (W0-D3-L3). However, Hoffe have only been behind at half-time in one of those fixtures. But the hosts’ poor start to the season has seen them sink to the bottom of the table.
In their previous 13 home games against teams in the to-six, Hoffenheim have lost nine times. Monchengladbach have been level at the interval in six of their previous eight to bottom-six clubs, as well as in three of their six road trips this term. All things considered, it’s worth taking the half-time draw.
I like the 1-1 correct half-time score at 13/2 with Bet365 and I’ll also back the 3-1 Gladbach win at 19/1 with 888.
Young Boys v St Gallen | Saturday 19.00
In 11 of Young Boys’ previous 18 home games there has been Over 3.5 goals. Of those 11 games, Young Boys won 10, drawing the other 2-2 against FC Aarau. Young Boys have scored at least four goals in six of their previous 18 home games, with three of those fixtures finishing in 4-2 victories.
St Gallen have only won five of their previous 18 road trips to top-six clubs despite scoring at least twice in 7/18 (39%) of those away days.
Both teams to score at 4/6 (BetVictor) looks a safe bet. From the five home games this season that Young Boys have managed 15+ shots in a game, they have only failed to score three or more goals once.
However, St Gallen have won their previous three outings and with a fantastic 2-1 victory against Basel recently, Young Boys will certainly be set for a test. I’ll back a home 4-2 success at 45/1 with 888.
