Correct Score: City to take advantage of toxic Emirates atmosphere

Swansea v Middlesbrough | Sunday 13:30 | Sky Sports

This is a huge game for the home side, but looking at the table, it is even more important for ‘Boro, who simply cannot afford to fall eight points behind their 17th placed hosts.

The bookies certainly can’t see the Teesiders getting out of the bottom-three, as their 1/6 quotes for their relegation testifies.

It’s hard to argue with such odds given they have failed to win a league game since beating today’s opponents on 17th December. They scored three goals in that game but have managed just four more in their 12 league games since.

It is with this in mind that I am backing the home side to keep a clean sheet in what I believe will be a relatively tight game.

Whilst Swansea are the more expansive of the two sides, a gung-ho attitude is unlikely, particularly as ‘Boro boss Steve Agnew is unlikely to repeat his mistake of two weeks ago when he started the explosive Armand Traore on the bench.

Middlesbrough have lost five of their last seven away games by the 1-0 and 2-0 scorelines (and made a profit for this column during that period), so I would recommend taking BetVictor up on their offer of 6/1 for a 1-0 victory for the home side and 17/2 for 2-0.

I shall also be shopping around for the best price for Gyfil Sigurdsson to be first goal scorer in the same game!

Arsenal v Manchester City | Sunday 16:00 | Sky Sports

With four defeats in their last five league games, Arsene Wenger is under the greatest crises of his Arsenal career and another loss at home to Manchester City will surely end with a toxic atmosphere at The Emirates on Sunday afternoon.

Given that both sides are better offensively than defensively it is no surprise to see odds on quotes on Both Teams To Score and Over 2.5 Goals.

However, given that I am confident that City are the better side when both teams are at their best and believe that the Citizens are in a far better run of form, I want to back them in both the outright market (they are a 13/10 generally) and correct score market.

I think 2-1 to the visitors is the most likely scoreline – they already have three away victories in this manner this term – and that is 19/2 with 10BET. I wouldn’t rule out a slightly more emphatic victory so I am also going to take BetVictor’s 17/1 on a 3-1 win.

Best Bets

Swansea v Middlesbrough – Swansea to win 1-0 (6/1 BetVictor)

Swansea v Middlesbrough – Swansea to win 2-0 (17/2 BetVictor)

Arsenal v Manchester City – Manchester City to win 2-1 (19/2 10BET)

Arsenal v Manchester City – Manchester City to win 3-1 (17/1 BetVictor)
