Newcastle v Bournemouth | Saturday 4th November 2017, 15:00

In all honesty, I could have picked an Under 2.5 Goals correct score in any of Saturday afternoon’s kick-offs. However, I believe this one offers the most value as it features Newcastle, a side who I rate reasonably highly and Bournemouth, a side whom I don’t.

After losing to Tottenham on the opening weekend of the Premier League season, Newcastle have gained 1- points from their next four home games, suggesting that St James’ Park is becoming the fortress it needs to be if they are to enjoy a comfortable return to the Premier League.

At present they sit in ninth, 10 places and seven points better off than this weekend’s opponents Bournemouth.

Cherries wilting

Eddie Howe’s side have just two wins to their name this season and I struggle to foresee a third here. They may have beaten Stoke in their last away game but that was a rather fortuitous victory.

Their first goal came from 25 yards and their second was a penalty. Stoke then dominated the game and should have had at least one spot kick themselves. That victory is clearly factored into the price here as I am surprised to see odds against quotes available for a home win.

The betting angles

Newcastle average just a-goal-a-game this season and Bournemouth just 0.60 goals per-game and given that both have reasonable defences, I cannot see many goals.

The Tyneside outfit have two 1-0 victories to their name so far this term whilst their Dorset opponents have lost by this scoreline on three occasions. I therefore believe that the 13/2 Bet365 are offering on a 1-0 home win offers good value and it is a result I expect to see a lot of whilst Rafa Benitez remains at the helm.

I cannot see Bournemouth scoring but given that 2-0 is available at 9/1 with BetStars, I will take that reasonably priced saver.
