Colossus 1X2 – Pick 8 | 21st-23rd May

Levante vs Cadiz CF

This weeks ‘Pick 8’ Rollover begins on the continent in the Spanish top flight as Cadiz CF head to the Estadi Ciutat de València to lock horns with Levante.

The hosts are amidst a seven-game run without a win in La Liga and defeat here could see them drop to as low as 16th in the proceedings if other results go against them. Cadiz have lost their last two La Liga games but victory could see them finish in the top half of the table.

Selections: Draw, Cadiz CF

Brentford vs Bournemouth

It’s advantage Bournemouth at the end of the first leg of the Championship playoff semi-finals between the competition's big dogs Brentford and Bournemouth. History shows that returning contenders have an irresistible record in this lottery and the Bees have certainly seen it all before.

The Cherries have a team littered with EPL quality- Billing, Brookes, Lerma- however, I am going to have to go with the money here. The hosts are priced at around evens and given they must win by one goal at least I think it is the sensible option for this clash.

Selections: Brentford, Draw

Union Berlin vs RB Leipzig

RB Leipzig face Union Berlin in the last round of Bundesliga fixtures. RBL are ten points adrift of the champions Bayern and four points clear of third placed Borussia Dortmund- who they have lost twice two in their most recent two games. Their manager- Julian Nagelsmann- has swore his allegiance to Bayern making this clash a bit of a damp squib.

The visitors have won their last four head to heads with the Iron Ones by an aggregate scoreline of 11-1 and I fancy them to make it five out of five on Saturday.

Selection: RB Leipzig

Werder Bremen vs B M’gladbach

This game promises a little bit more drama then the former in Germany as there is one automatic relegation left to decide and Werder Bremen currently occupy it.

The hosts have not managed to beat the Foals in any of these sides last head to heads but they may have to muster one this evening if they are going to stand any chance of staying above Koln and leapfrog Arminia Bielefeld.

Selections: Werder Bremen, Draw

Swansea vs Barnsley

Swansea have their noses in front thanks to a first half strike from Andre Ayew, however, its goalkeeper Freddy Woodman that the Swans owe this victory to.

The Tykes notched up an xG of 1.06 and I am sure the majority of Barnsley Town are still wondering how Callum Brittain did not make the Ponty End net bulge in the second half. His rebound generated an xG of 0.41 but with the goal at his mercy the data does not really do the magnitude of the miss justice.

Steve Cooper – linked with the Palace job- received the plaudits for foiling Valérien Ismaël’s brutishly direct tactics, however, I cannot see the Welsh output nullifying the threat of Dike and co for another 90 minutes.

Selections: Draw, Barnsley

Fulham vs Newcastle

A few months ago this game promised so much, however, with the proceedings at the bottom end of the EPL table all wrapped up it looks rather bleak.

Steve Bruce has a wealth of attacking options at his disposal and has found a way to deploy them all at once. This has seen his side transition from one of the duller top flight sides to watch to one of the most entertaining.

With nothing on the line for either side we could see a bit of a crazy game at Craven Cottage which is why I don’t want to put all my eggs in one basket so I’ve split them equally.

Selections: Fulham, Newcastle

Leicester vs Tottenham

Circumstance seems to have played a bit of a role in the prices of these sides as the UCL chasing hosts are around the even money mark. If Liverpool beat Burnley on Wednesday night, a win will be off paramount importance for the Foxes and I fancy them to complete the double over Spurs.

Under the temporary charge of Ryan Mason, Tottenham have endured a mix bag of results and performances and I think that the vastly more experienced Brenden Rodgers will have his number marked.

Selections: Leicester

Atalanta vs AC Milan

This cynosure of Serie A’s final round of fixtures takes place at the Gewiss Stadium as Atalanta welcome AC Milan. This fixture pits second against third and whilst the hosts superior head-to-head record guarantees them a UCL spot, the visitors have it all to play for.

Selections: AC Milan

My first bet, like most, was on the Grand National. However, I really got into betting when my dad used to go and get me and my brother the slips before home games on a Saturday. At the beginning we’d all pick one away team in a £3 three-fold but soon my brother and I were gathering all our shrapnel and creating the most ambitious accas you could imagine. Unbelievable, I won a 30/1 BTTS acca once. I remember when Birmingham pulled one back to win me the bet in the last seconds of the game, I must of been hooked from then on...
