Cheltenham: County Handicap Hurdle betting preview

RACING anorak Graeme Johnston (@GraemeJ_83) is on hand to dissect the always competitive County Hurdle, the second race of Day 4 at the Cheltenham Festival.

The County Handicap Hurdle is normally my favourite handicap of the meeting but this is a below par renewal and slightly underwhelming. Nevertheless, its likely to throw up a decent price winner. But who?

Leoncavallo (20/1 Ladbrokes) has plenty of big field handicap experience and his last effort over hurdles was an excellent third in a soft ground Galway hurdle. That was a hot race and this should be a slightly easier race.

He was fifth in a Triumph Hurdle here before and I make him a solid each-way bet in a race he's had targeted for a while.

I grew up watching Hearts games with my dad and playing football at every opportunity so betting on it was the logical next step! Football coupons became a Saturday ritual and it introduced me into the world of horse racing. I started watching it on a regular basis, and after Galileo's Derby win in 2001 I was hooked. I follow both flat and national hunt racing attending the northern meetings when possible.
