RACING anorak Graeme Johnston (@GraemeJ_83) takes a look at the long slog that is the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle.

The Albert Bartlett is the final novice hurdle of the meeting and on this soft ground its likely to be a real war of attrition here. Run over three miles, this could turn into a heart-breaking slog.

Gordon Elliot had a slow start to the meeting but with two quick-fire winners on Wednesday he's up-and-running now and I expect him to add to his tally here.

Commander Of Fleet (7/1 BetVictor) has only suffered defeat once which was at Grade 1 level over two miles when only 3/1 and he put that right next time when stepping up to three miles.

He beat one of Friday’s rivals there, and three miles on testing ground looks ideal for this fellow. I've backed him to win this.

I grew up watching Hearts games with my dad and playing football at every opportunity so betting on it was the logical next step! Football coupons became a Saturday ritual and it introduced me into the world of horse racing. I started watching it on a regular basis, and after Galileo's Derby win in 2001 I was hooked. I follow both flat and national hunt racing attending the northern meetings when possible.
