BUNDESLIGA boff Lucas Swain (@BundesligaLucas) is back with two more best bets from the German top tier on Saturday.

VfB Stuttgart v Schalke 04 | Saturday 14.30

Stuttgart’s season has been a calamity to date; sitting one point away from bottom-placed Borrusia Dortmund (it’s so strange typing that) and seriously struggling in front of goal, it came as no surprised that Armin Veh was sacked from the club he once led to the Bundesliga title.

Replaced by Huub Stevens, Stuttgart looked a much better side when they travelled to Freiburg. Excelling on the counter, Stuttgart were able to put four past the home side to pick up just their third win of the season.

This week sees them host Roberto di Matteo’s Schalke, who hasn’t been having the best of relationships with his new job in Gelsenkirchen. It seems as if di Matteo is unable to stop Schalke from being Schalke, who continuingly fail to produce any form of consistency by securing results in games they’re not expecting to, then dropping silly points – it’s as if they’re unable to play under pressure.

Looking at the league table, Schalke’s trip south should see them return back to North Rhine-Westphalia with three points, but it won’t be that simple. Whilst Schalke pose a greater threat than what Frieburg did, Stuttgart will be taking the utmost confidence into their clash with the Royal Blues.

Stevens has a great understanding of how Schalke work, as it was just two years ago he was at the helm of the club. After a short stint as Stuggart coach in the first half of the year, the 61-year-old will be looking to become more successful with his second chance at Stuttgart, and Schalke prove to be the first hurdle.

It’s likely Stuttgart will get a result here, as when Schalke do perform to their capabilities it very rarely comes away from the Veltins Arena. The home side are being traded at a very measly price given the respective league positions, but it’s still fair enough for a -0.25 Asian handicap to be priced nicely (19/20 Bet365) – that’s where my money’s going.

Paderborn v Freiburg | Saturday 14.30

Both lurking ominously above the relegation zone, Paderborn and Frieburg will be hoping to take points off each other this weekend. Whilst the task of taking three points off Paderborn away from home may prove problematic for Freiburg, there shouldn’t be a lack of goals here.

Neither of these sides have had troubles in front of goal despite their league positions, as they’ve both had troubles at the back. Freiburg became the eigth team to enter the ’20 goal club’ this weekend, as the four Stuttgart put past them meant they’ve conceded 20 in just 13 games.

Paderborn currently sit on 22. In 4/5 of Paderborn’s last home games Over 2.5 Goals has landed, with the Bundesliga newcomers scoring at least twice in four, too.

Freiburg haven’t had much luck when it comes to defending on the road, so it’s looking likely Paderborn could add to that stat. Because of the above information, Over 2.5 goals looks at great bet at 5/6 with BetVictor.

Best Bets

Stuttgart v Schalke – Stuttgart +0.25 Asian Handicap (19/20 bet365)

Paderborn v Freiburg – Over 2.5 Goals (5/6 BetVictor)
