WITH five more matches to come from the Bundesliga this midweek, we asked German football fan Mark O’Haire (@MarkOHaire) to share his best bets from Wednesday’s action.
Borussia Dortmund v Wolfsburg | Wednesday 19.00 | BT Sport 2
Having beaten Hoffenheim 1-0 on home soil last Friday week, Dortmund fans could have been forgiven for thinking the nightmare was over.
For the first time since the Champions League final in 2003, Jurgen Klopp was able to field his first-choice back four and BVB bagged maximum points with a dominant performance.
But last weekend they fell back into the bad habits that have blighted their campaign. More missed chances, more sloppy defending and another crucial injury with Henrikh Mkhitaryan sidelines for the rest of the year.
It’s easy for those outside of the Bundesliga to pass comment on the Black & Yellows without seeing a minute of their matches but Dortmund haven’t been playing as badly as some would like to make out.
But the reality is, they’re back in the relegation zone and have now lost 60% of their 15 league games this season. So how could we possibly trust them at odds-on quotes against Germany’s second best team?
Yes, Wolfsburg deserve that tag, if only for the time being. Dieter Hecking’s side were denied a Sunday victory against Paderborn due to some bizarre referring decisions and a missed penalty but remain a real force to be reckoned with.
The Wolves have won 12 of their last 16 outings and been beaten just twice during that spell. They’ll smell blood and have enough attacking ammunition to give the hosts hell on Wednesday night.
And they look fantastic value at 30/29 (BetVictor) with a +0.50 start in the Asian Handicap market – this means, we’ll profit should the visitors avoid defeat.
Eintracht Frankfurt v Hertha Berlin | Wednesday 19.00
On Friday night I advised a bet on Frankfurt to score Over 1.5 Goals at Hoffenheim on my Twitter account and they duly delivered.
So I’m not going to venture away from the same bet again on Wednesday night. Coral are offering 10/11 on the hosts hitting two or more goals and it’s a feat they’ve achieved in 10/15 Bundesliga matches already this season and in five of their eight games on home soil.
Frankfurt are the second top scorers in Germany’s top tier, smashing 29 goals in their 15 outings at an average of 1.93 goals-per-game whilst the duel threat of Haris Seferovic and Alex Meier continue to wreak havoc amongst opposition defences
The Eagles matches have been jam-packed with goals – 10 have already produced Over 3.5 Goal winners – but with Hertha losing five of their seven away and averaging over two goals against on the road, I’m happier taking the hosts to score Over 1.5 Goals.
