GAVIN Murphy (@GamePlanGavin) returns to Australia in search of more bookings profit.

Sydney FC v Wellington Phoenix | Thursday 09:00 | BT Sport 1

As a bit of fun I am trying to correctly predict a cards bet every day this week. Thursday looks by far the trickiest day to achieve that goal but value exists in Australia as Wellington visit Sydney.

In a quirk of fate, the visitors from New Zealand are likely to be fresher than the home side on Thursday night local time. Ernie Merrick has kept his Phoenix side in Sydney this week to prepare and they will head to Allianz Stadium in fresh spirits.

For the Sky Blues, fresh from a long flight and the scorching Perth heat, where they were unable to penetrate a stubborn Glory defence, they have dropped to fourth on the ladder.

Their cracking start to the new season has hit a speed bump in recent weeks with just two points from their last three games. Now back on home soil, and with a shorter week to recover and prepare, last season’s grand finalists face a Wellington side still hurting from their late collapse against the Wanderers last weekend.

The past two meetings between these two teams had eight cards in each. This term Sydney average 2.57 cards per game and Wellington 3.00 per match so this implies 5.57 cards in total could be expected.

Chris Beath gets the whistle for this one and he has already obliged for us on two previous occasions this season. His last five games read 6-6-5-4-5. Given the numbers I'm backing over 45pts at 17/20 with William Hill.

About Author

I first got interested in gambling through my cousin. He's a professional gambler and got me hooked as a teenager when you had to pay the 9% tax. Who remembers that?! These days I prefer to specialise on one market rather than spread myself too thinly. Hence my love of cards! Hopefully I can make others a few bob in the process of sharing my bets on WeLoveBetting. On a personal note I love most sports especially cricket, rugby and NFL. I support Tottenham and all things Welsh and outside of sport I enjoy reading autobiographies particularly with a glass of good wine!
