Bookings: Contrasting cards form offers great League Two value

CARD king Gavin Murphy (@GamePlanGavin) has spotted some excellent bookings value in the Football League on Tuesday night.

Crewe v Wycombe | Tuesday 19:45

League Two action at Gresty Road catches my eye on Tuesday evening as Crewe host Wycombe.

The Railwaymen occupy 18th place and will be buoyed by their 5-0 demolition of Grimsby at this venue on Saturday.

Visitors Wycombe sit just outside the play-off positions and desperately need to pick up points here having stumbled 2-0 at Stevenage on the weekend.

Contrast in cards

What strikes me here is the stark difference between these two clubs in terms of discipline; Crewe are the most disciplined outfit at this level collecting 28 yellows and a red card in their 30 league matches so far this season.

Contrast that with the Chairboys who sit seventh in the disciplinary table with 62 yellows and two red cards – Gareth Ainsworth’s men average more than double the average number of cards given to Crewe.

If we include all matches played this season then Crewe average 1.00 card per-game compared to 2.17 for Wycombe – again a significant difference.

The betting angle

Lancashire official Michael Salisbury is in charge here. He averages 3.45 cards per-game at this level and 3.65 cards per-game overall this season.

In limited career games officiating the hosts he typically gives them 1.50 cards per-game and averages 2.00 per-match to Wycombe.

I'm really surprised how this has been priced up. To me, Wycombe to collect the most bookings points at 11/8 with William Hill looks like great value.

I first got interested in gambling through my cousin. He's a professional gambler and got me hooked as a teenager when you had to pay the 9% tax. Who remembers that?! These days I prefer to specialise on one market rather than spread myself too thinly. Hence my love of cards! Hopefully I can make others a few bob in the process of sharing my bets on WeLoveBetting. On a personal note I love most sports especially cricket, rugby and NFL. I support Tottenham and all things Welsh and outside of sport I enjoy reading autobiographies particularly with a glass of good wine!
