Atalanta v Empoli: There’s value in backing the Bergamo boys

OUR man in Italy, Marco Di Cosmo (@scioltz) returns with key thoughts on Tuesday night's sole  Serie A fixture.

Atalanta v Empoli | Tuesday 19:45 | BT Sport

It’s not hard to see why Atalanta are clear favorite in this match.

The Bergamaschi are living one of their best season’s over the last 10 years, sitting in sixth and playing some enjoyable and offensive football – it’s impossible not to enjoy.

It is true Atalanta had only one point in the last three games, but I see that as incidents more than a crisis.

The first match was against Juventus in Turin, in the second they had a remarkable good performance against Udinese but lost 3-1 before they settled for a draw in San Siro against Milan – that’s not a bad result as the Rossoneri are just two points away from second.

Atalanta to get back on track

No better occasion then for Atalanta to get back on track than playing Empoli at home. The Tuscany visitors are among the weakest teams you could ask to face after a bad period.

Empoli have only recently improved their away trend with two draws and a win against Pescara, while the rest of their campaign consist of four losses. Atalanta make no compromises at home.

They had three losses, two of them at the beginning of the season when they had some difficulties and the last one we’ve just mentioned against Udinese.

Their five wins include some big scalps such as Napoli, Inter and Roma who were kept at bay in three victories without conceding.

That is why I like to back Atalanta to score Over 1.5 Goals at 7/10 (Coral) and I’ll also have a bigger bet on Atalanta to win and Over 1.5 Goals at even-money (Paddy Power).

Best Bets

Atalanta v Empoli – Atalanta to score Over 1.5 Goals (7/10 Coral)

Atalanta v Empoli – Atalanta to win and Over 1.5 Goals (1/1 Paddy Power)
