ASTON VILLA host Liverpool in Tuesday night's encounter from the Premier League. Jarnel (@Jarnel_Dh) takes a closer look at Villa Park match-up.
Aston Villa vs Liverpool | Tuesday 10th May 2022, 20:00 | Sky Sports
Last weekend, we had a bumper couple of days in the Premier League. Starting with the 3pm kick-offs, Aston Villa travelled to manager-less Burnley and made lightwork of it – winning 3-1.
Ex-Claret Danny Ings got on the scoresheet for the second game in succession. Followed by goals from Emi Buendia and Ollie Watkins, those of you who are still running your Fantasy Premier League teams would have been gutted if you had a Villa defender. The Ivorian international ruined any hopes of an away clean sheet late on in the clash.
This leaves Villa in 11th – with four games to play, two of which are against the Premier League top two.
Now, when was the last time Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool played at 7:45pm on a Saturday evening? Villa managed to put 7 past the Premier League title holders of that season. I'm not sure if bookies will even price up that scoreline!
Anyways, Liverpool's title hopes took a minor hiccup due to the resilience of Antonio Conte's Spurs holding out for a 1-1 draw. Liverpool fans will not be too worried about the draw because the title race is out of their hands and they still require Man City to drop points – except now it will need to be a loss instead of a draw.
Son-Heung Min opened up the scoring against the run of play, soon after the man who never stops running Luis Diaz picked up the equaliser. Those of you who trade on the Betfair Exchange would have seen Liverpool climb up to 6.4. Great opportunity for a quick trade there.
Expected XI's
There are three expected absentees for Aston Villa: Leon Bailey, Jacob Ramsey and Kortney Hause. Bailey is likely to feature before the end of the season, however Tuesday may be too soon for him which is the same for Jacob Ramsey.
Liverpool have Roberto Firmino who has been training throughout the weekend to gain match fitness after an ankle/foot injury. It is likely that he could be in contention for the game at Villa Park.
ASTON VILLA: Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Mings, Digne; McGinn, Luiz, Chambers, Coutinho; Ings, Watkins
LIVERPOOL: Alisson; TAA; Van Dijk, Matip, Robertson; Keita, Fabinho, Thiago; Salah, Jota, Mane
The Stats
I have finely selected just one bet for the contest on Tuesday evening – Liverpool tackles. Stats look extremely strong for this one, Liverpool have achieved over this line in their last 8 Premier League matches (19/15/17/15/18/23/16/15).
Not only have Liverpool got superb form of tackles, they have also been showing consistent high numbers in their last 20 matches, Liverpool landing over 13.5 in 15 of those matches.
The most recent contest between these two teams were when Gerrard made his return to Anfield as a Premier League manager. This ended 1-0 to the Reds, more importantly the tackles were plentiful – as Liverpool racked up 17 of them!
Against teams of a similar playing style to Liverpool, Villa have been tackled 20/13/25/17/3/23/17. These numbers are also promising for our bet to land.
What price to take?
I must add that I would have made this bet a three unit selection if the line was at 5/6 (which it was at the time of opening prices). This selection still holds a great amount of value and I would take this bet down to 4/6 which should be the next price drop. Please stake one unit if this selection hits 4/6, any lower and I would not bet on this line as there is no value.
Best Bets
