THE king of Anytime Goalscorer betting is back with three more picks. Thanks Gavin Horsfall (@GHorsfall)!

Shrewsbury v Blackpool | Saturday 15:00

Sometimes you watch a game, a player takes your eye and you know immediately they are going to be overpriced the following weekend. Step forward Larnell Cole at Shrewsbury who joined on loan from Fulham at the start of the month.

Just four starts for the 22 year old who was billed as a versatile midfielder but looks to be playing much further forward in behind Shrews favoured lone striker.

Micky Mellon commented this week that he fears none of his strikers can play together so the lone frontman should be his preference with Cole and Jordan Clark supporting in behind Tyrone Barnett, James Collins or Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro.

Last week’s defeat at home to Crewe wasn’t half as bad as you think; Cole was a constant threat and could easily have bagged a brace. No doubt for me that Stan James have it wrong here, we just have to hope that Saturday’s the day we get paid out when the visitors are Blackpool.

Bury v Coventry | Saturday 15:00

Liverpool loanee Ryan Kent was impressive in Coventry’s 1-0 win over Chesterfield last weekend. Eighteen year old Kent has been bought in as cover for absentee James Maddison and seemed right at home in Tony Mowbray’s interchangeable front four alongside Jacob Murphy, Jim O’Brien and Adam Armstrong.

There are plenty of Coventry links on both sides of the pitch when City visit Bury on Saturday and every chance Oldham-born Kent makes himself feel more at home than most.

Mansfield v Plymouth | Saturday 15:00

Way back in August Jake Jervis was the first name on the 2015/16 Anytime Notebook, he failed to score then but has been typically prolific ever since, scoring six in his last seven games.

Plymouth continue to look full of goals with Jervis, Gregg Wylde and Graham Carey working excellently together and meaning opposition managers have a lot more to worry about than just Reuben Reid.

Plymouth head to Mansfield who carry a threat of their own these days and there looks a good game in prospect here, Jervis looks full of confidence at the moment and the prices looks a couple of points too big.

Best Bets

Shrewsbury v Blackpool – Larnell Cole to score anytime (9/2 Stan James)

Bury v Coventry – Ryan Kent to score anytime (5/1 Bet365)

Mansfield v Plymouth – Jake Jervis to score anytime (3/1 Bet365)

While the betting landscape may have changed, it’s still all about solving puzzles and although edges have got smaller, there are still profitable angles for punters lower down the football pyramid. When not watching his beloved Coventry City, he’s watching games in Leagues 1 and 2, on the lookout for goalscoring defenders, penalty taking midfielders and in-form strikers for his Anytime Notebook.
