THE king of the Anytime Goalscorer bet Gavin Horsfall (@GHorsfall) returns with another value-stuffed Notebook.

Sheffield United v Southend | Saturday 15:00

Barry Corr’s summer departure to Cambridge was muted as a contributory factor to Southend’s defensive frailties this week with several commentators suggesting the team needs to defend from the front more effectively.

Whatever the reason it was sloppy defending that saw the Shrimpers return with nothing from Scunthorpe last week just a week after a similarly poor outing at home to Rochdale.

Neill Collins gets the nod when it comes to picking out Sheffield Utd set piece threats, the 32 year old averages more than a chance a game with the home side looking to extend a run of scoring three or more in four of their last five home games.

Colchester v Coventry | Saturday 15:00

Another loss for Coventry when without Adam Armstrong last week won’t do anything to silence the doubters that we are more than a one-man team.

Whether he starts at Colchester or not one man who’ll be looking forward to the trip more than most is Jacob Murphy who scored four in 11 on loan at The U's last season. Murphy could get some joy down the left hand side with Colchester looking vulnerable at right-back with Richard Brindley still out.

Exeter v Crawley | Saturday 15:00

Not a bad recent run for Crawley who’ve won five of their last seven league games and crept away from the bottom of the table.

Oldham loanee Rhys Murphy (11/4) looks overpriced here to notch a fourth goal in five league outings when they visit Exeter on Saturday, former Dagenham man Murphy hasn’t quite met the grade in League One but is a proven threat at this level.

Sheffield United v Scunthorpe – Neill Collins to score anytime (9/1 Ladbrokes)

Colchester v Coventry – Jacob Murphy to score anytime (100/30 Ladbrokes)

Exeter v Crawley – Rhys Murray to score anytime (11/4 Boylesports)

About Author

After a misspent youth spent sneaking into Midland’s racetracks with his Dad without paying, Gavin caught the betting bug early. While the betting landscape may have changed, it’s still all about solving puzzles and although edges have got smaller, there are still profitable angles for punters lower down the football pyramid. When not watching his beloved Coventry City, he’s watching games in Leagues 1 and 2, on the lookout for goalscoring defenders, penalty taking midfielders and in-form strikers for his Anytime Notebook.
