AFTER the Gold Cup, it's the amateurs turn to run their own version. Graeme Johnston (@GraemeJ_83) looks at the best bets for us.

Looking through the field it would appear at first glance that most of them are in with a big chance with wins galore on display. But many of these were gained in low grade affairs and upon closer inspection there are only two or three with a serious chance.
On the Fringe was third in the race last year, and has come second on his two starts this season. This has been his aim all year and I expect him to be in the mix at the end, but my gut instinct is he will come up short again.
Current Event rattled off a sequence of point to point wins before winning well at Musselburgh in a Hunter Chase. As an eight year old he is still improving, but I feel this may come a year too early for him as he has run into a horse I really fancy.
Paint the Clouds is trading at 4/1, and I feel this is a great price. He was a talented hurdler and chaser under rules, where he made his last start in the conditionals jockey handicap at the festival two years ago being pulled up.
He was off the track for a year before embarking on a Hunter chase career and he hasn't looked back since. Four wins out of four including a facile victory in the Foxhunters champion chase at Stratford marks him out as the horse to beat in this field. Ridden by Gold Cup winning jockey Sam Waley-Cohen I make him a very confident selection.
