Morecambe vs Tranmere | Sunday 23rd May 2021, 12:30 | Sky Sports

  • Morecambe have won 15 of their last 20 home games.
  • Morecambe have seen both teams to score in 61% of league games.

Despite Tranmere having the majority of the ball and attacking pressure in the first leg, it was actually Morecambe who created the better goalscoring chances, two that they took from Nat Knight-Percival and Liam McAlinden. They may have been scruffy finishes but they were in the right place at the right time and it puts Derek Adams’ side in the driving seat.

They’ll also get the backing of their own fans here which will no doubt boost spirits. They’ll look to keep their compact 4-1-4-1 formation off the ball, a set-up where impressive defensive midfielder Yan Songo’o is a vital cog, not letting any Tranmere players get in between the lines. They have the pace of Carlos Mendes-Gomes on the break too, they’ve got a superb home record and have scored in 20/23 at the Mazuma stadium.

Tranmere will probably get plenty of balls in the box again but their anticipation levels on second balls has to be better if they’re to capitalise. Don’t be surprised to see one of Peter Clarke or Manny Monthe go up front if they’re chasing the game late on. Morecambe don’t have a brilliant defensive record despite their position and with Tranmere having to score, odds-against on both teams to score once again looks overpriced.

About Author

I was first interested in the betting industry by doing the odd coupon at 18 - when I’d see a team at odds I didn’t expect it sparked my curiosity as to why that was. I’d go and research everything around that club: form, team news, manager quotes, and try give my own price in an aim to out-do the bookies. I personally enjoy punting on the Football League and European competitions. I like to diversify what markets I bet on so sometimes it’s outrights, goals, player cards etc. The Football League angle comes from being an avid Bradford City fan which has its ups (reaching a League Cup final and beating Chelsea in the FA Cup) and its downs (The entirety of 2018). Hobbies of mine include playing football, cross country running, travelling and playing Football Manager.
