MANCHESTER UNITED host Wolves on Wednesday night in an FA Cup 3rd Round replay. We asked Tom Love (@TomLove_18) to source the best bets.
Manchester United v Wolves | Wednesday 15th January 2020, 19:45 | BT Sport
Another drab drab televised game has been picked for Wednesday night as Manchester United and Wolves hopefully serve up something better than the snooze-fest that occurred last week.
It was a game of few chances where little of note happened. Both these sides still harbour hopes of Europa League glory and both have played a mammoth amount of fixtures already this season so a replay doesn’t help either really.
Having to second guess starting line-ups and weighing up motivation levels can make betting in domestic cups extremely difficult so I personally tend to play small stakes as it’s not something you can be extremely confident in anymore. The FA Cup used to have a rousing effect on players but the shine has come off in recent years and players aren’t as starry-eyed as they used to be.
I’m happy to follow some trends when looking at getting something inside for this game. Firstly, I’ll dip into the card market and my eye has been drawn to the odds-against offering on the hosts to collect 20+ Booking Points (11/10 SkyBet).
We all know the threat Wolves have on the break with the likes of Pedro Neto, Raul Jimenez and chiefly Adama Traore. It’s little surprise therefore to see teams pick up a few cards against them, especially when the Old Gold are playing as the away side as there is greater space for them to run into.
This bet has landed in seven of Wolves’ last nine away games and given United have a few players who are happy to give away fouls (11.2 per-game) then it looks a fine price.
I’m also happy to chance another odds-against shout in a fairly unusual market. We can back exactly 2-3 goals at 21/20 (Bet Victor) and it’s a bet that has landed in 16 of Wolves’ 22 Premier League games this season, it also landed in 12/22 United games therefore it looks a touch of value.
I could easily see it ending in a 1-1 scoreline given that’s landed in five United games and eight Wolves encounters, it was also the scoreline when the two teams met in the league at Molineux early in the season. That is available at 6/1 (Bet365) and with it landing in every 3.4 games when combined that could also be an angle of interest for those wanting a bit of a bigger price.
