Huddersfield v Man Utd: Terriers to bow out with a whimper

PREMIER LEAGUE analyst Daniel McCulloch (@DMcCulloch1984) takes a look at Super Sunday's showdown between Huddersfield and Manchester United.

Huddersfield v Manchester United | Sunday 5th May 2019, 14:00 | Sky Sports

Both these clubs have endured poor seasons but Huddersfield's has been particularly painful. The Terriers have gained just 14 points this campaign – just three more than the Derby side of 11 years ago who are statistically the worst side in Premier League history.

Under new boss Jan Siewert, Huddersfield have one win and 12 defeats and they looked in a sorry state when Liverpool put five unanswered goals past them last Friday.

Manchester United are also in poor recent form, with only one fortuitous victory over West Ham in seven games in April but they haven't encountered as hospitable hosts as Huddersfield for quite some time.

Huddersfield have scored in just five of their last 16 games in all competitions so while I have little faith in United against quality opposition, I do like the look of them at 5/4 with BetVictor to win to nil here.

Huddersfield have faced members of the Big Six on 11 occasions so far this season and lost every one, while they've only managed to find the net in three of those 11 matches and in only one of their four home matches.

A 2-0 or 3-0 victory for The Red Devils feels like the most likely scoreline in my view and I will probably back those on the exchange, but I will keep it more simple here and simply back United -1.5, which is available at 68/67 with BetVictor.

Under Siewert, The Terriers have lost by two goals or more on seven occasions and with United still in with an outside chance of Champions League qualification I believe they will have the desire to score the second and third goals needed to make this bet a winner.

Don't get me wrong, I don't rate this particular United team that highly but they should have too much class for a Huddersfield side that simply want the season to end.

Best Bets

Huddersfield v Manchester United – Manchester United to win to nil (5/4 BetVictor)

Huddersfield v Manchester United – Manchester United -1.5 Asian Handicap (68/67 BetVictor)
