PREMIER LEAGUE analyst Daniel McCulloch (@DMcCulloch1984) takes a look at Friday Night Football from Anfield as Liverpool welcome Huddersfield.
Liverpool v Huddersfield | Friday 26th April 2019, 20:00 | Sky Sports
I doubt even the most optimistic of Manchester City fans believes that Huddersfield can do them a favour on Friday night and I am certainly not about to give them any encouragement. This, after all, is a side who have amassed just 14 points from 35 league games this season and have scored in just five of their last 14 matches. On top of that, you have a Liverpool side who have lost just once in the Premier League this season and who have managed 15 wins and two draws from their 17 home matches. For me, it's simply a case of trying to find the value given that Liverpool are 1/12 in the outright market and are generally considered to be three goal favourites by the bookmakers.
Given Huddersfield poor goalscoring record – they have only scored in three of their ten matches (all losses) against ‘The Big Six' this season and Liverpool's stingy attack, I like the angle of dutching the 3-0 and 4-0 scorelines. Liverpool have won in this manner in four of their 12 home games against sides outside of the top half dozen and given that you are getting 6/1 on 3-0 and 13/2 on 4-0 (both with Bet365) I think you are getting a shade of value.
I also couldn't let a column go past without getting on my favourite goalscoring tip: Sadio Mane to score first, which is available at 4/1 with Bet365. Hes managed the first goal in eight of Liverpool's last 16 matches in all competitions and while such a run is unsustainable long-term there seems little evidence to me why he should be so much bigger than Mo Salah (11/4).
Best Bets
Liverpool to win 3-0 (6/1 Bet365)
Liverpool to win 4-0 (13/2 Bet365)
Sadio Mane to score first (4/1 Bet 365)
