PREMIER LEAGUE analyst Daniel McCulloch (@DMcCulloch1984) shares his thoughts on Super Sunday's showdown between Crystal Palace and Manchester City at Selhurst Park.
Crystal Palace v Manchester City | Sunday 14th April 2019, 14:05 | Sky Sports
This encounter amuses me in that, if Manchester City were a relegation candidate this would be viewed as precisely the kind of fixture they would want: Crystal Palace are – barring a mathematical miracle – certain of Premier League status next season but have little to no chance of European football so the theory would be that they are ‘on the beach'.
However, as City are in a title race this is presented as a really tough game. In my view, it is closer to the latter as Palace are a side with a genuine attacking threat and have – rather incredibly – already beaten City this season. The Eagles have also secured a draw at Old Trafford and knocked Tottenham out of the FA Cup.
Under Roy Hodgson, Palace have generally given the Big Six a tough afternoon but eventually come unstuck. In 21 league games under the former England manager they've lost nine by a single goal, so the bet that gets my attention is Manchester City to win by a single goal at 14/5 with Boylesports.
The Eagles have already lost in this manner at home to Tottenham and Chelsea this season and I expect a third defeat on the way on Sunday. The more adventurous of you may like the 0-1 or 1-2 scorelines but I'll stick to the winning margin.
Best Bets
Crystal Palace v Manchester City – Manchester City to win by a single goal (14/5 Boylesports)
