FOOTBALL expert Ross Casey (@RossCasey24) has been in good tipping form of late and he is gunning for some FA Cup profit this Sunday…
Newport v Leicester | Sunday 6th January 2019, 16:30 | BBC
It is certainly fair to say that the magic and romance of the FA Cup has been in short supply so far in round round three. Spurs absolutely battered Tranmere 7-0 and only four sides from either the Premier League and The Championship have lost to sides from lower leagues.
However, this fixture between Newport and Leicester is a real potential banana skin tie for The Foxes. Newport proved against Leeds and Tottenham last year in this competition that they can be a handful on the bobbly Rodney Parade pitch and the BBC cameras will be hoping for more of the same.
The bookies are not convinced though, with Betway going the best price on Leicester at just 30/100. BetVictor are best price on the upset, with a massive price of 21/2 available.
Newport County
To say that Newport are coming into this match on a high would certainly be untrue. County have not won in four matches, losing three in that sequence. Manager Mike Flynn has described this match as a free hit though, and I agree with.
Their home form is excellent, with seven wins from their last 11. They have actually only lost three matches on home soil all season. Only eight of the 23 other teams have scored more at home in League Two than Newport, so looking at Newport to net could prove profitable – especially against a Leicester team with just two clean sheets in their last eight matches!
You can get both teams to score here at 10/11 with Coral.
Leicester
The Foxes have been a real hit and miss side of late, managing to pull off surprise results against Chelsea, Man City and Everton, but managing to lose at home to Cardiff of late.
This is the last competition that they have a real hope of winning this season, and whilst Claude Puel has said that he will rotate his side, surely he will name a side with the right qualities to tackle this physical game.
Whilst Newport have a great record at home, they do concede. In fact, only Notts County and Cambridge United have shipped more than Newport in League Two!
Newport have failed to keep a clean sheet in all 15 of their previous FA Cup matches against top-flight sides, so for that reason, Jamie Vardy appeals at 4/5. He has played non-league football and will be up for the challenge here in my opinion, whilst also taking confidence from his excellent winner at Goodison Park last weekend.
