PREMIER LEAGUE expert Daniel McCulloch (@DMcCulloch1984) previews Wednesday night's mouthwatering match between Manchester United and Arsenal at Old Trafford.
Manchester United v Arsenal | Wednesday 5th December 2018, 20:00 | BT Sport
When looking for value here, I initially looked at finding a way to oppose goals – this is a match featuring Jose Mourinho after all – but the truth is that Manchester United’s performances have been so poor this season that it’s very difficult to make a case for this being a low-scoring match.
To date this season, United have one clean sheet in six home games – against Crystal Palace when they faced 13 shots – and have managed to concede twice at Old Trafford to Newcastle, the same tally at Southampton at the weekend and three times at West Ham and Brighton.
In 14 games this term, the Red Devils have faced 70 shots on-target – only five sides in the whole division have faced more.
Their opponents, Arsenal have faced 68 shots on-target and despite the fact that they are unbeaten on the road since August, it is worth noting that they have only kept one clean sheet in their last 16 games on their travels.
Ten of United’s 14 games this season have seen both sides score and Over 2.5 Goals, the same is the case for nine of Arsenal’s 14 matches. That combines for 19/28 (68%) games, which suggests that the 5/6 Boylesports are offering onOver 2.5 Goals and Both Teams To Score is excellent value.
Elsewhere I couldn’t put you off backing either side to win 2-1. Manchester United have won by this scoreline in four of their 14 matches this season and Arsenal twice so with a 9/1 available on a home victory in this manner and 11/1 on an away win, I think that’s a shred of value.
