FOOTBALL journalist Adam Goodwin (@AGJournalism) shares his verdict on Saturday evening's Premier league match-up between Crystal Palace and Tottenham at Selhurst Park.
Crystal Palace v Tottenham | Saturday 10th November 2018, 17:30 | BT Sport
This is Tottenham’s sixth game in just 18 days and, so far, they’ve coped with the demanding schedule pretty well. They’ve won three, drawn one and lost one of their last five matches – that one loss was a narrow defeat to Manchester City.
Spurs' away form is also better than their home form of late, and they’re unbeaten in their last six games away from Wembley (W5-D1-L0).
Mauricio Pochettino's men have scored 13 goals in their last six away games and Over 2.5 Goals has landed in five of their seven games away so, just like I predicted for their game against PSV on Wednesday night, I think they’ll be goals at Selhurst Park.
Tottenham have also scored the first goal in every Premier League away game this season, so expect Spurs to open the scoring again on Saturday afternoon.
Palace in poor form
Unlike Tottenham, Crystal Palace head into this game in poor form, where they are winless in their last six games. They lost five of those, but their only draw was against Tottenham’s North London neighbours Arsenal.
The Eagles are still yet to record a victory at Selhurst Park this season, which is surprising because they’ve always performed well at home in recent years.
Scoring goals seems to be the problem so far, but with three goals in their last two games against Arsenal and Chelsea, perhaps they’ve found a solution to their meager record in front of goal.
The betting angles
This is a hard one to call because although Tottenham look heavy favourites on paper, I feel their hectic schedule will catch-up with them – especially with their lengthy injury list.
So, I’m going to play it reasonably safe here and go with Over 2.5 Goals, which is 4/5 with Betfair. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Palace get themselves on the scoresheet, but if they don’t, there’s no reason why Spurs couldn’t potentially cover this by themselves.
Best Bets
