D.C. United will be feeling disappointed after losing at home against Philadelphia during the week as they now face arguably the league’s best team, Atlanta United. They have the divisions best away record.

Atlanta’s last game was a 2-1 win in Orlando which saw star man Josef Martinez score his 28th goal of the season, breaking the record for goals scored in a single MLS season. The Five Stripes have won four of their last five games on the road, so it’s going to be a tough task for Wayne Rooney and D.C. who have ambitions of sneaking into the playoffs.

D.C. United had recently gone on a run of four wins in five which made them everyone’s pick to make the playoffs. However, back-to-back defeats against New York Red Bulls and Philadelphia Union has been a huge slip at a crucial stage of the season. They’re still six points behind Montreal Impact in sixth and they’re running out of games in hand.

Atlanta United have only lost once in their last 11 away games which is incredible for a side in Major League Soccer as they face intense travel schedules. They won’t be intimidated by D.C. and they will take confidence from the fact that the Red Bulls and Philadelphia Union have taken three points home from their new stadium.

Atlanta are 11/10 to pick up more points on the road.

I grew up a Huddersfield Town fan because of my old man, and I still support them to this day (Currently reaping the rewards in the big time). I fell in love with Major League Soccer a few years ago, it’s an entertaining league and fun to have a punt on. I’m a student sports journalist and I run an award-winning MLS website.
