Peterborough have been one of League One’s most unpredictable and inconsistent sides for a number of seasons now.

This season has been no different. Posh started the campaign with a promising four-consecutive league wins, but now find themselves in eighth spot, four points off a play-off place.

Nonetheless, on their day, Grant McCann’s team are capable of troubling most. They beat Aston Villa 3-1 at Villa Park, and have scored two or more goals in six of their last seven at London Road.

So they have goals in them and that’s where their strength lies. In a front three of Marcus Madison, Jack Marriot and Junior Morais, Peterborough have a balance of pace, movement and technical quality.

On the other hand, they were held to replays by Conference sides Tranmere and Woking, that alone signifies their unpredictability.

Leicester were much changed in the previous round when they drew 0-0 at Fleetword. They weren’t at full-strength in the replay either, however Claude Puel fielded a team strong enough to get the job done. After being taken to a replay last time around, it’s likely Puel will be keen to get the job done first time around here, especially given they have four games in 14 days.

Islam Slimani has been heavily linked with a move away, yet started both FA cup games earlier this month. I’d probably wait for the line-ups before getting too involved with anything. New signing Fousseni Diabate could also be on show.

Goals the order

From what we know, goals look the obvious play here. Even without Jamie Vardy, the Foxes will still have the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho, Demarai Gray and possibly even Riyad Mahrez on show. Peterborough’s league games have averaged 3.00 goals per-game, the second-highest in League One.

Five of Peterborough’s last seven home matches have seen at least two goals in the second-half. Peterborough tend to come out all guns blazing from the outset, so it could make for an interesting game come the second-half.

Best Bets

Peterborough v Leicester – Leicester to win and Over 2.5 goals (13/10 Coral)

Peterborough v Leicester – Over 1.5 second-half goals (20/21 Marathon)
