LA LIGA expert Callum Read (@CallumRead) highlights the value from Friday night's encounter between Osasuna and Real Betis.
Osasuna v Real Betis | Friday 19.45 | Sky Sports 5
Osasuna head coach Enrique Martín got his first win of the La Liga season last weekend, beating Eibar 3-2 at the Ipurua. It may be the start of Osasuna’s season as they’ve been ultimately disappointing but in recent weeks have picked up four points against Eibar and Las Palmas.
Attacking midfielder Roberto Torres has been one of the standout performers, scoring three goals this season, his latest a stunner against Eibar, whilst summer arrival Sergio Leon has scored four goals in six games since arriving from Elche.
Things looked positive for Real Betis boss Gus Poyet at the start of the season; he has one of the most exciting young teams in Spain. However, his side are sitting in 16th and have only won twice.
Last weekend’s 6-1 defeat at home to Real Madrid was met with chants from the Betis faithful calling for the departure of the Uruguayan.
On paper, this game promises to deliver goals. Osasuna have scored 10 goals and conceded 17, whilst Betis have scored nine and shipped 18. The home side have seen Over 2.5 Goals land in 50% of their home games, the same percentage as Betis in four fixtures.
In the last five matches between the two, Over 2.5 goals has landed, and in Osasuna’s last four games in La Liga the same bet has won.
Osasuna have a habit of scoring goals, but have a real problem keeping them out, conceding at least twice in six of their last seven La Liga games. The same issue applies for Poyet. His side have shipped 18 goals in eight La Liga games, the joint-most in the league – with Osasuna placed second.
The two sides met twice in 2014 at El Sadar with the score line finishing 3-2 and 2-1 to Osasuna. The same fixture has also seen a 5-1, another 3-2 and a couple 2-1’s – it certainly has goals in recent history.
