Las Palmas v Espanyol | Friday 19.45 | Sky Sports 5

It seems like forever since we had some Friday night European football and it’s finally back with Las Palmas v Espanyol.

On paper, this game promises goals. Las Palmas have been a side that produce goals at both ends – scoring 16 and conceding 13, whilst Espanyol have scored nine and conceded 14.

The Canaries are currently unbeaten at home, winning two games and drawing once. The away side have had mixed away form, winning once, drawing once and losing once, scoring seven and conceding eight.

In Espanyol’s three away matches, Over 2.5 goals has landed twice, with the third game finishing 1-1. It’s the same return with Las Palmas in their home fixtures with outings ending 5-1, 2-2 and 1-0.

In recent weeks though, Espanyol have become a lot more defensive and Quique Sanches Flores’ back line has been more stubborn than it was at the start of the season. So instead of throwing all my eggs into one basket and backing Over 2.5 Goals, I’ve opted to look into the Over 1.5 Goals and Match Result market.

Even though Over 2.5 Goals has landed in seven of eight Las Palmas’ games and it’s proven profitable in five of Espanyol’s last six on the road, I’m still not entirely comfortable putting my faith behind a three-goal (or better) game.

The home side sit seventh in the table and are without a win in three games, whilst Espanyol have lost twice in their last five. But the hosts have won all three fixtures against Espanyol at the Gran Canaria, with Over 1.5 Goals landing twice.

BetStars are offering Las Palmas and Over 1.5 Goals at 7/4, bringing great value for Friday night’s encounter.
