Roma are closing in on qualification for next season Champions League and can further cement third spot by sweeping aside 14th-placed Bologna in the capital.
The Wolves will be buzzing after Sunday's 4-1 triumph over city rivals Lazio and are unlikely to be seriously tested by Bologna, who lost 1-0 at home to basement boys Verona on Monday.
The Giallorossi will be without suspended Radja Nainggolan but there are plenty of able replacements in Luciano Spaletti’s almost fully fit squad. Edin Dzeko may be given a start up front after scoring against Lazio in the derby last weekend.
Roma have now W9-D1-L0 in their last Serie A outings, scoring at least twice in all nine victories. The capital club have led at the interval in five of their past six triumphs and know a Monday night success would bring them to within four points of Napoli and automatic Champions League qualification.
Spaletti’s side are the league’s top scorers (66) and plundered three or more goals in five of their past seven, suffering a sole reverse in 17 (W10-D6-L1) league tests. But at a best-price 3/10, we’ll have to look elsewhere.
Bologna are ambling towards the finishing line having all but secured their Serie A status following a fantastic initial run under Roberto Donadoni. But the Rossoblu arrive on the back of a three-match losing streak that’s coincided with leading forward Mattia Destro’s injury.
The Greyhounds travel without the banned Emanuele Giaccherini whilst Saphir Taider is also battling to be fit, leaving the visitors without three of their key players in offensive areas – not ideal for a side that’s scored just once in six (W0-D3-L3).
In four of those six winless fixtures, Bologna landed two shots-on-target or fewer although the travellers have proven awkward opponents under Donadoni. The Rossoblu have seen eight of their last 10 road trips feature 0-0 half-time correct scores, nine of which have gone on to fall below the 2.5 goals line.
The Both Teams To Score market also represents opposing trends – only four of Bologna’s 15 away days have produced BTTS profit, compared to 11/15 (73%) of Roma’s Stadio Olimpico outings this term – the hosts recorded just three home clean sheets in the process.
So I’m going to take Roma to win and Under 3.5 Goals here at 9/10 (Betfred). Just one of Bologna’s 15 away days have broken this line and with three key attacking players absent, I expect Donadoni’s troops to try and dig-in to get a result.
The Greyhounds have shipped three goals in a game only twice since returning to the top-flight so whilst I expect a home success, I’m unwilling to look towards the handicap markets. This bet seems to be cover most available high-trending angles.
