KING of the cards Gavin Murphy (@GamePlanGavin) has the Merseyside derby in sight as he searches for yet another winning bookings bet.
Everton v Liverpool | Sunday 13.30 | Sky Sports 1
It’s labelled the ‘dirtiest game in England’ but I’m not so sure that tag fits the Merseyside derby. Well at least, not recently.
In the past 10 meetings between Everton and Liverpool, the average number of cards dished out has proven to be a surprisingly low 4.4 cards-per-game. At Goodison Park, the average increases to 5.4 cards-per-game, whereas at Anfield it drops to a low 3.4 cards-per-game.
Martin Atkinson gets the whistle and he’s averaging 4.8 cards-per-game this term. He has officiated this fixture on three previous occasions – in two matches at Anfield he issued just three cards each time. In his one outing at Goodison, he gave two yellows and a red.
The last five encounters at the home of the Toffees have read five, six, seven, four and five cards. Given that it would have landed in 4/5 past games at Goodison Park, I am getting involved with the Total Match Cards market at William Hill with Between 4-6 Cards available to back at even-money. Nice.
