Bookings Tips | Bologna v Genoa | 2nd October 2016

KING of the cards Gavin Murphy (@GamePlanGavin) has found an angle to exploit in Sunday afternoon's Serie A action.

Bologna v Genoa | Sunday 14.00

There are many matches in Italy this weekend that merit consideration for cards punters but the fixture between Bologna and Genoa catches my eye.

Both teams are mid-table and have enjoyed solid starts to the Serie A season and will be targeting maximum points from this match to push on.

The past six meetings between these two teams have produced total card figures of 3-7-7-6-3-10 – that is an average of 6.00 total cards per-match.

So far this season, Genoa have collected 15 yellows and a league-high three reds. Hosts Bologna have received 10 yellows and two reds.

The real star of this particular show though will be Fabio Maresca.

The 35-year-old from Naples is one of Italy's most prolific card issuers. We profited from him earlier in the season when he brandished six yellows and a red in the match between Udinese and Empoli.

In 2015/16 Maresca averaged 7.20 cards per-appearance.

Of the two teams, Genoa are more ill-disciplined but I was encouraged to see that Maresca has sent off a Bologna player in 2/4 matches in which he has officiated them.

There is a big difference of opinion between bookies on this game. William Hill are just 1/2 on Over 55 Bookings Points but Bet365 are offering 1.975 on their equivalent market.

With a hot referee in charge and an average of 6.00 cards per-game in recent head-to-head meetings, I'm recommending backing Over 5.5 Cards at 1.975 on Bet365's Asian line.

I first got interested in gambling through my cousin. He's a professional gambler and got me hooked as a teenager when you had to pay the 9% tax. Who remembers that?! These days I prefer to specialise on one market rather than spread myself too thinly. Hence my love of cards! Hopefully I can make others a few bob in the process of sharing my bets on WeLoveBetting. On a personal note I love most sports especially cricket, rugby and NFL. I support Tottenham and all things Welsh and outside of sport I enjoy reading autobiographies particularly with a glass of good wine!
