The Champions League returns this week with Matchday 3 the focus. Tottenham look to continue their excellent start to the 2016/17 campaign when they travel to Germany to face Bayer Leverkusen.

Spurs met with a small setback on Saturday when they dropped two points at The Hawthorns against West Brom but they remain the only unbeaten side in the Premier League this season.

On top of the dropped points, star defender Toby Alderweireld suffered an injury in the Midlands and the Belgian will be absent from this match on Tuesday night.

Alderweireld was an ever present last season in the league and indeed also so far in this campaign and his absence casts a shadow over the hopes of Tottenham here.

Spurs come into this game on three points. The opening matchday loss to Monaco at Wembley was disappointing but they made up for it with a win in Russia against CSKA Moscow three weeks ago. Anything from this match will set them up nicely.

Bayer finished third in the Bundesliga last season but struggled in the Champions League group stages, winning just once from their six matches.

This season has been a toil so far and Roger Schmidt's side lie 10th in the table after losing three of their opening seven matches. On the plus side they have beaten Borussia Dortmund and are unbeaten at home.

They've taken two points from their opening two fixtures in this Champions League group and a defeat here would leave them in a weak position for sure.

The BayArena has proved a strong base for Leverkusen in recent times. Not only are they unbeaten there this season but also have a managed to hold off Barcelona and Roma there last year in this competition.

At 5/4 they're somewhat short to be backing and with this Tottenham side still with much to give it's the 13/5 on the draw that appeals. An interest in the 1-1 scoreline also looks decent at 13/2.

  1. Both teams have had a good start to their season, playing good aggressive football, with high pressing. However, both of them fared below par in their last games. GO COYS!
