Koln v Freiburg | Friday 19.30 | BT Sport ESPN

Bundesliga betting begins this Friday with the clash between unbeaten Koln and one of this year’s new-boys; yo-yo club Freiburg.

Koln have started the season with a 2-0 win against Darmstadt and a goalless draw away at Wolfsburg, two decent results and they’ll be keen to continue this in front of their home fans.

Freiburg’s start to another Bundesliga campaign where survival is probably the name of the game, started with a narrow last-minute defeat at Hertha followed by a scintillating 3-1 victory against Gladbach.

Koln lie in third and will go top, albeit maybe momentarily, with a win here.

The Billy Goats are one of Bundesliga’s toughest nuts to crack but Freiburg will be brimming full of confidence to get something. It should be an entertaining game at the RheinEnergieStadion.

Koln, as expected, are a touch of odds-on for the three points while Freiburg can be backed at 7/2 for a second Bundesliga win in a row.

Koln’s last 20 home Bundesliga games are a mixed bag of wins, draws and losses and whilst Freiburg’s Bundesliga victories are a pretty rare occurrence, it may pay to be on their side in some format when sourcing value.

The head-to-head records put us firmly in the Freiburg camp, the Breisgauers have won the last four matches again Koln, one of which was at the RheinEnergie.

After last week’s fantastic result, the away side will be relying on Max Phillip to add to his two goals already this season in their bid for their fifth victory in a row against Koln and coach Christian Streich will be expecting to take something.

Plenty of angles to take, the 6/4 on offer for a Freiburg first-half goal is something to keep an eye on – but probably the best value selection will be Freiburg with a +0.50 Asian Handicap start at evens with BetVictor.

Thirteen of Koln’s last 20 home games and 10 of Frieburg’s last 20 away games in the top-flight would have seen this bet land, and with the impressive head-to-head record, it looks worth supporting Freiburg to kick-off the Bundesliga bonanza.

We’ll be paid out should the newcomers avoid defeat on Friday night.

Best Bets

Koln v Freiburg – Freiburg +0.50 Asian Handicap (1/1 BetVictor)
