GAVIN Horsfall (@GHorsfall) has eked out huge profit in 2015/16 with his excellent anytime goalscorer picks from the Football League. Here’s his latest slice of genius.
Doncaster v Colchester | Saturday 15.00
Colchester’s attacking 4-2-3-1 obviously comes at a cost when it comes to keeping goals out and they’ll almost certainly continue to run hot and cold in the 1X2 market. But goal backers can still approach them with a degree of confidence.
Tony Humes’ side come very close to averaging two shots-on-target greater than the average for the division and in recent times only Wigan have reduced them to a handful of chances (where they employed 4-4-1-1) on the road.
A visit to Doncaster looks like another good opportunity and it’s the number 10 George Moncur (7/2 Paddy Power) who gets the nod. Moncur looks a much better player than the one I saw a handful of times last year when he appeared like he enjoyed the security of the centre circle too much.
He’s now looking comfortable just in behind Marvin Sordell, is receiving the ball in better positions and is now averaging almost two shots-a-game from within the area.
His goal scoring record reads 11 in 23 stretching back to last season and while he was the one that got away last week when I should have put him up at 6/1, the horse might not have bolted just yet and we can profit this time instead.
Carlisle v Yeovil | Saturday 15.00
Carlisle forward Alex Gilliead (15/8 Bet365) has helped himself to two tidy finishes since joining on loan from Newcastle and looks a good prospect to kick on further against Yeovil.
Gilliead cuts it as a winger and was a threat at both Northampton and Wycombe, but he was even better in the Cumbrians last home game against Exeter, where he’s probably going to be given more of a licence to get into prominent positions.
Leyton Orient v Accrington | Saturday 15.00
Whilst their good form and attacking football may have not gone unnoticed, there’s still some value to be had at Accrington with that 4/1 to win at Orient looking mighty huge this weekend.
On the goalscorer front, it’s not like this column to self-congratulate itself but we did tell you about Josh Windass ages ago, and while the value looks long gone on that particular 21-year-old it looks profitable to side with another in Matt Crooks (10/1 Bet365).
The former Huddersfield man has both striker and defender on his CV in the past but is relishing a central midfield role under John Coleman. The 21-year-old has scored five in 15 already this season, consistently tests opposition keepers and looks big at the prices to notch again this weekend.
Cambridge v Bristol Rovers | Friday 19.45
We profited from Bristol Rovers’ performances on the road a couple of weeks back so last week’s 4-1 loss at home to Newport shouldn’t put us off when they visit Cambridge on Friday night.
Darrell Clarke’s side went five without a win before he shook things up against Hartlepool, Billy Bodin (23/5 10Bet) came into the starting line-up that day, scored in a 3-1 win and continues to look like one of the key beneficiaries of Rover’s recent good away form.
Bodin looks dangerous coming in off the right-hand side and can get some joy against a Cambridge defence that have conceded two or more goals in four of eight home games, gave up plenty of chances at home Portsmouth and Northampton recently and let Yeovil back into the game last week.
