CHRIS Graham (@chrisgraham79) takes a look at the Friday night match between Aston Villa and Manchester United.

Both these sides won 1-0 on the opening weekend of the season. Neither were massively convincing. Aston Villa edged past newly-promoted Bournemouth at a raucous Vitality Stadium while Manchester United played out a narrow win against Tottenham.

As we all know, Louis Van Gaal's side took time to gel last season as they reshaped their starting XI and it may be that that might be happening again this time round.

Morgan Schneiderlin, Memphis Depay, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Sergio Romero and Matteo Darmian all made their competitive debuts for the club last week. That's quite an overhaul.

I must confess (despite numerous slaggings from friends) I'm still rather drawn to Tim Sherwood. The only time he really let me down was their pitiful display in the FA Cup Final in May.

Since the Premier League winning captain arrived at the club in the cold days of February his side have scored in 15 out of his 19 games in charge. A handsome figure when you consider just how awful the club were under Paul Lambert.

I'm a big fan of the new signings he's brought in. They look fresh and up for it and for the first time in three seasons I actually think Villa won't need to even sweat about relegation.

This is my whole point really. Sherwood brings something to the table. And if the players respond they'll be a tough team to beat this season. Including on Friday evening.

My big bet on this game is a simple one. Villa to score! It's a lot bigger than I thought at 4/5 with Coral. Spurs definitely could have got something from their game against United on Saturday but just couldn't turn it on. Sherwood's side will have a go.

Manchester United won just six of their 19 away games last season and as we saw last week are still finding their roles in this new exciting side.

I'll supplement my big bet with a hopeful poke on a 1-1 draw at 7/1 with Ladbrokes.
