THREE consecutive winning and profitable Anytime Notebooks from Gavin Horsfall (@GHorsfall). Find out who’s next on his Anytime Goalscorer hit-list below…

Luton v Portsmouth | Saturday 15.00

Midweek League Cup viewing isn’t all it’s cracked up to be for an Anytime punter, more often than not I’m sat there hoping a player in the Notebook that I’ve pencilled in for the weekend doesn’t pop his head above the radar.

Despite that, every chance we may have got away with one when Cameron McGeehan (6/1 Paddy Power) lines up for Luton against Portsmouth on Saturday. Midfielder McGeehan took his tally to two with the equaliser against Stoke in midweek before telling the local rag that 10-15 goals was his target for the year, if employed in the advanced position he played against Premier League opposition on Tuesday.

Whichever way you look at it, 11 goals in 41 appearances and up against a Portsmouth side that went three-down at home to Morecambe last weekend makes the 6/1 look appealing.

AFC Wimbledon v Exeter | Saturday 15.00

Exeter’s David Wheeler (11/2 Paddy Power) is another who’s done nothing wrong in midweek to suggest his purple patch may be over.

The 24-year old scored his third goal in four in the 6-3 defeat to Sunderland – a goal that took his tally to seven in 20 since the back end of last season.

Wheeler gets forward enough down the right to make him appealing at the price anyway but even more so when he set-up as part of a front three at Northampton a couple of weeks back.

Peterborough v Gillingham | Saturday 15.00

Gillingham has become a sensible place for punters to go so far this season so we’ll follow them looking for goal scoring riches. Adedeji Oshilaja (16/1 Bet365) is not the tallest centre back you’ll see but he has a great leap and attacks the ball with purpose from Gills set pieces.

Justin Edinburgh takes his table-topping side to Peterborough this week where the hosts look vulnerable having conceded nine in a week. Posh will be without centre-back Gabriel Zakuani who sits out the second game of his three-match suspension while Jack Baldwin remains injured and goalkeeper Ben Alnwick has overseen a less than inspiring start to his campaign.

There’ll be worse 16/1 pokes about this weekend, that’s for sure.

AFC Wimbledon v Exeter – David Wheeler to score at anytime (11/2 Paddy Power)

Peterborough v Gillingham – Adedeji Oshilaja to score at anytime (16/1 Bet365)

After a misspent youth spent sneaking into Midland’s racetracks with his Dad without paying, Gavin caught the betting bug early. While the betting landscape may have changed, it’s still all about solving puzzles and although edges have got smaller, there are still profitable angles for punters lower down the football pyramid. When not watching his beloved Coventry City, he’s watching games in Leagues 1 and 2, on the lookout for goalscoring defenders, penalty taking midfielders and in-form strikers for his Anytime Notebook.
