AFTER knocking out Coventry in Round 1, Worcester City now have a second crack at fellow League One side Scunthorpe in Round 2. Chris Graham (@chrisgraham79) takes a look at the odds.
Worcester City v Scunthorpe | Wednesday 19:45 | BT Sport 1
One of the headline results of the FA Cup First Round last month saw Vanarama Conference North side Worcester City knock out 1987 competition winners Coventry City. Next up on their radar was Scunthorpe in the Second Round at Glanford Park, and the non-league side performed heroics by drawing 1-1. The tie now moves to Aggborough.
City did more than enough to earn a draw in the original tie on December 7th, and Carl Heeley's side are having the time of their lives at the moment proudly owning a 14 game unbeaten run. September 20th was the last time they lost and 10 of those 14 games were wins. You have to stand back and applaud.
But sadly for Worcester, League One Scunthorpe are in similar form. Since Mark Robins took over as manager in mid-October, the Iron have lost just once in nine matches. That run has brought victories against Peterborough and Barnsley and they've climbed out of the relegation zone. I've always felt Robins was a shrewd operator and further evidence is available here.
This looks a sensational tie it has to be said. I can go on praising these sides if you like? Ok, well Worcester have won their last five home matches while Scunthorpe are unbeaten in five away from home. There's an orgy of good form kicking around within this tie.
But what's the bet? Hey, just enjoy the game! But if you must have a bet, surely it's worth an interest in siding with Worcester at the heaving price of 4/1? Like I said, they're unbeaten since September and have won their last five at home. Whilst not being an historian of Worcester City Football Club I'd certainly suggest this must be one of their biggest matches of all time. Oh to be in the crowd at Aggborough tonight!
