UPTON Park closes it's gates after Manchester United visit on Tuesday. Can West Ham go out on a high? Chris Graham (@chrisgraham79) previews the game for us.
West Ham v Manchester United | Tuesday 19:45 | Sky Sports 1
It truly is the end of an era on Tuesday night as West Ham play their final match at Upton Park before their controversial move to the Olympic Stadium in the summer. It's fitting that one of English football's giants Manchester United are the visitors.
West Ham come into this game under a hugely disappointing cloud after losing 4-1 at home to Swansea on Saturday. That inexplicable result has ended their hopes of finishing in the Top 4.
For Manchester United though (unlike last season) the side are ending the campaign on a high. Louis Van Gaal's team are in the FA Cup Final a week on Saturday and in the league have won five of their last seven matches. United have only dropped points to the Top 2 in this spell.
Despite what feels an unsatisfactory season, Manchester United are now in the driving seat to pick up a Top 4 slot and rob their neighbours of a Champions League berth. If they win here and at home to Bournemouth on Sunday they'll finish fourth ahead of Man City.
Who knows what we'll see from West Ham here but I've a suspicion they might be nervous. We saw that in their FA Cup defeat to Manchester United at Upton Park last month and that must have been a contributing factor for Saturday's bizarre scoreline.
The pressure of course is also on the visitors too but even Van Gaal must be aware that his side need to go for it a bit here. A tepid draw won't suit either side and failure to finish in the Top 4 will surely signal an end to the Dutchman's tenure at Old Trafford.
West Have have scored and conceded in nine of their last 10 Premier League matches and I can see something similar happening here. United though have scored more than once in just one of their last nine league matches so it would be ambitious to expect fireworks here.
I'll have a smoke on Over 2.5 Goals and Both Teams To Score at 23/20 with William Hill and as a saver back the 1-1 draw at 6/1 with Bet365. Farewell Upton Park!
