St Mirren vs Aberdeen | Sunday 26th September 2021, 12:00 | Sky Sports
The hosts come into this after their best performance of the season, a very creditable 2-2 draw at Easter Road against Hibs. Striker Eamon Brophy looked sharp, netting the opener. Centre back Joe Shaughnessy, as he occasionally does – also popped up with a last-minute equalizer.
The Dons are on a horrible run – with the last seven matches reading a desperate W0 D2 L5. The start of this rut, was a defeat in the League Cup to Championship side Raith Rovers. Stephen Glass will need to turn things round quickly, as the natives are beginning to get a bit restless. The pressure will be massive if the reds lose in Renfrewshire.
One really significant stat that stands out for The Buddies league games in Paisley, is the lack of goals. In their 22 games as hosts, across last season (20/21) and this term to date, only 7/22 clashes have gone over 2.5 match goals. Indeed, in Jim Goodwin’s charges last 7 home league games, four of them have ended in 0-0 stalemates.
Recent St Mirren v Aberdeen league games:
- Dec ’20 – St Mirren 1 Aberdeen 1
- Jan ’20 – St Mirren 0 Aberdeen 0
- Aug ’19 – St Mirren 1 Aberdeen 0
So, under 2.5 goals looks a good angle in to this one. If we also chuck in St Mirren double chance, we get a nice odds against price of 6/5 with William Hills ‘Build Your Odds’, which given the Granite City men’s poor form, could to be the way to go.
