JUST four mathces left in Scotland's top division before the split. Chris Graham (@chrisgraham79) looks at Monday's St Mirren v Ross County game.
St Mirren v Ross County | Monday 19:45 | BT Sport 1
Is there any hope for St Mirren left? Well, the fact some layers make them just 1/33 to finish bottom you'd have to say no. Six games left, 10 points adrift of any other team. It don't look good eh?
Last Tuesday they faced a huge match against relegation rivals Motherwell. A win would have put them within four points of Well, it was all there for them. Yet they lost 5-0 in a morale-crushing defeat.
On Monday, the Paisley side get another crack at a relegation rival as they host 10th place Ross County. The only issue is, County are the form team in Scotland. Even with odds as big as 21/10 (Coral) I can't get involved with the Buddies.
The resurgence of Ross County has been one of the stories of the season for me. Boss Jim McIntyre took months to get his ideas across at the Highland club but now it's reaping rewards.
After losing 4-0 at Aberdeen on 7th February, the Staggies have notched up an eight match unbeaten run, with seven of those victories. Perhaps the most impressive of those wins came on Tuesday when they beat in-form Top 5 side St Johnstone 1-0.
If you're measuring the general vibe and health of each of these clubs then Ross are on a different planet to the broken Buddies. Could that 5-0 defeat last week sink them psychologically? Very much so, and odds of 29/20 on County look decent.
I was surprised to see Under 2.5 Goals as big as 17/20 when you factor in that three of Ross's wins in this run have been 1-0 and St Mirren have scored just eight goals at home this season in the league. Indeed, they haven't scored a goal since February!
I'll have a dabble on a couple of good prices here. The Ross win to nil bet has paid out in three of their last six matches and against St Mirren in their last five defeats. At 100/30 with Skybet it's worth a go.
On top of that, the 10/1 on No Goalscorer with William Hill looks too big. As I said, St Mirren haven't scored since February and Ross have been involved in Under 1.5 Goals games three times recently.
Best Bets
St Mirren v Ross County – Ross County to win to nil (100/30 Skybet)
St Mirren v Ross County – No Goalscorer (10/1 William Hill)
