Serie A: Marco Di Cosmo thinks Marco Giampaolo’s men could be worth watching for a goalfest

OUR man in Italy, Marco Di Cosmo (@scioltz) looks to continue his hot streak in Serie A with his best Saturday selections.

Bologna vs Sampdoria| Saturday 25th November 2017, 14:00

Sampdoria is performing superbly in this 2017-18 season and their 3-2 win against Juventus is the peak of a very exciting year.

I’ve often praised Marco Giampaolo’s style of coaching and he is fully deserving all the praises now, sitting at 6th place of the table, with one match still to be played against Roma.

Sampdoria is a very tough cookie at home, where they have the best record in the league with 6 wins out of six. They do not perform at the same rhythm away when they often concede more (10 goals in just six games), but their ability to score is still present.

I think they will be able to register again when travelling to Bologna, whose home defensive record is among the worst Serie A teams. But also, the hosts should be able to score as well considering Sampdoria’s away defensive trend and Bologna’s decent performances at home against big teams.

Chievo vs SPAL| Saturday 25th November 2017, 17:00

I think Chievo will have no problem being safe from relegation this season, and those are the type of matches that they usually win in order to take no risks from here to the end of the year.

Chievo’s home record is usually quite reliable. They had a surprising 4-1 defeat against AC Milan, but promptly recovered holding Napoli to a deserved 0-0 last time.

Spal is a fighting team and I give them some chances to avoid relegation. However, today Chievo superior experience should prevail and despite a draw possibly coming, I will side with the hosts to win.

Sassuolo vs Verona | Saturday 25th November 2017, 17:00

I was expecting Benevento to take the first point of their 2017-18 Serie A campaign, but this team is incredibly unlucky and suffered another late goal to seal their defeat, this time against Sassuolo.

Such victory gives the hosts some vital points in order to survive in Serie A, after the exciting season under Eusebio di Francesco.

However, I still do not seem convinced and I will give Verona some chances today.

The visitors are far from being reliable, but they have some offensive ability to consider. Finally, they could get at least a point after a disastrous trend.

To be more cautious, I will back them at decent odds with a +1.0 Asian handicap. This way, we’ll get a win if they win or draw, and a refund if they lose by one goal.

Cagliari vs Inter | Saturday 25th November 2017, 19:45

Back the visitors to win. Simply because Inter is far superior to the Sardinians, and simply because their home trend does not justify such odds to me.

Inter are 1.75 to win this match, against a side who already lost 50% of their home games (against Genoa, Chievo and Sassuolo). Also, Inter have a great advantage as they do not have any European competitions, so they have rested their players for the entire week.

Simply backing Inter to win should be a wise option to me.
