My first selection of 2018 comes from the Scottish Championship as it takes centre stage for a few weeks with the Premiership on their winter break.
Dundee United will be looking to continue their push for a top-flight return against relegation-threatened Falkirk on Saturday. The Tangerines have been up their all season alongside St Mirren in what is looking like a two-horse race for automatic promotion.
Csaba Laszlo took over in November and has won five of his seven Championship games thus far, leaving United sitting just three points off the peak with a game in-hand to play.
Falkirk, who were many (including my) tip for promotion, have had a terrible campaign. They sacked Peter Houston and replaced him with Paul Hartley but results haven’t improved as they’ve triumphed just twice in 18 league games.
The hosts are starting to get cut adrift in the relegation play-off spot with only Brechin – who are more or less down – keeping them off the bottom.
Dundee United have the best squad in the division and should have more than enough to get all three points on Saturday and heap more misery on Hartley‘s men. The away win is 29/25 (Marathon).
